The weather forecast was calling for calm seas off Louisiana and rough here in Texas for the next few days, so my cousin Wayne and I took a few personal days and headed to Venice. We drove all night trailering my boat and got there shortly after sun rise. After running down the Mississippi River we fished our way out to about 30nm off the south west pass to a couple of floating rigs. Wayne landed a 32 lbs wahoo and had a skipjack tuna cut in half by a barracuda. That night we caught more blackfin than we knew what to do with. We used some for chunking and caught a 85 lbs yellow fin around sun rise. We broke off several more and decided to head back in. We found the rip with in 10 miles of the jetties and started trolling. We picked up a small yellow fin and lots of black fin and a few small dolphin.
