My friend Cody and I ran off shore for the day to see if we could find any trophy fish for the tournament. At our second stop we found a nice school of ling and caught the largest out of it. It weighed 48 lbs. The largest ling in the tournament at the time was 35 lbs, so we knew we were leading at that point. We decided to check out one more spot before we headed for the scales. When we pulled up to the next spot, a huge school of ling came up to the boat. There were around 20 big ling ranging from 30 to 80 lbs. We caught 5 and and kept 3. The two we through back were over 40 lbs. We ended up with a 40# 45# 48# and a 83# ling for the day. The 83 # ling took first place in the tournament

The smallest Black Drum weighed in at 22 lbs and the largest was 37 lbs. The action was steady with one double hook up to finish the day.

We landed 11 Black drum between 25 lbs to 45 lbs. We also caught one 25 lbs Red Fish. The action was steady with one double hook up.

We had steady action on nice size Sand Trout all afternoon mixed with a few Croaker. We also landed a solid Bull Red and large Black Drum. With the last hour of day light, we left the jetties and came back in to the ship channel to find a few Flounder. We landed one 17 inch and two 21 inch Flounder to finish out the day.

The lines were not in the water long before we hooked up and landed a 46 inch Bull Red. By the time the sun set, we had landed 15 more Red fish. Their size ranged between 24 to 32 inches. We released all but two, which we kept for dinned. It was a fast action day with multiple double hook ups.

We ran a few miles out of the Pass and found a shrimp boat cleaning out their nets. The bait was in the water less than a minute before it was picked up by a 4 ft blacktip shark. After a 20 min battle, the shark bit through the 400lbs leader and got away. With in minutes of tossing out the next bait, we were hooked up with a 3 foot blacktip. We boated the shark for a few pics before letting it go. We landed one more before the shrimp boat picked up his nets and moved on. We ran out a few more miles and found a nice weed line. While trolling we picked up a few nice kings and a small ling. after leaving the weed line, we came across a floating rope and a bucket. We picked up a nice Tripletail under the rope. On the way in we stopped a small pipe stand off Follets Island and picked up some nice spade fish.

A stout north wind had the water dirty and made the trout fishing tough around sun rise. Around 9am we went to one of my favorite red fish holes. It was not long before we had double and triple hook ups on solid reds. The fish ranged between 24 to 32 inches. My crew kept their 4 limits of reds and let many others go. After the tide changed and the fish turned off, we picked up a few trout to finish of the day.
